Chris Walker

Chris Walker has been involved in the martial arts for over 20 years. He started his training in Shotokan Karate where he was graded to 1st Dan (black belt) by Asano sensei of Shotokan Karate International. Chris then joined the armed forces where he served for 5 years . He then went on to do security work at pubs and clubs in and around the South Yorkshire area. At the same time he was training in a variety of martial arts, enjoying them all and gaining valuable experience. It was during this time that Chris first started practising Aikido. He quickly realized it was the one that suited his beliefs. Both physically and philosophically with its aim to promote a more peaceful world by avoiding conflict and replacing it with reconciliation.

Chris currently works on the front door of a busy city centre nightclub. He believes that working there, and at many other similar venues, has aided his ability to not only deal with the physical and emotional side of a conflict situation, but more importantly how to be aware of and avoid such situations.

After many years of study Chris was awarded his 3rd Dan in 2011 by his instructor George Forbes sensei (6th Dan) who is the founder and chief instructor of Shobu Aikido UK.
